The transfer of Eden Hazard to Manchester United did not happen due to a disagreement over payment for his agent, John Bico. According to reports, Hazard was close to joining the team but negotiations stalled because United refused to pay Bico a significant fee for his services. This decision ultimately led Hazard to sign with Chelsea instead, where he joined from Lille for a reported £32 million. This was a then-record sale for the club. The situation came to light after Bico was investigated for unrelated financial crimes in Belgium. The Premier League is also looking into the matter, as a £6 million payment was made by an offshore company owned by Roman Abramovich to Bico in 2013.
