Neville had previously stated that Marinakis was criticizing his manager, Nuno, for the team's performance in their 2-2 draw against Leicester City. However, both Marinakis and Nuno later clarified that the owner was actually checking on the well-being of injured player Taiwo Awoniyi.

Neville never apologized for his mistake and instead kept criticizing Marinakis' management after being informed that Forest would not allow him to enter the stadium as a co-commentator.

Neville claimed that he had never faced similar action in his 14 years as a commentator and felt that Forest's decision was disappointing. He also mentioned that it was symptomatic of issues that have arisen within the club over the past year.

Neville expressed his wish for the Forest coaching staff, players, and fans to achieve their goal of qualifying for the Champions League.
