He emphasized that this never-say-die attitude is something the team takes pride in, and it's a quality that has been present throughout the club's history. Hirst said, “Things aren't always going to go our way, but it's not that which determines us, it's how we react to it."
He continued, “Today we showed all the qualities of a really good side. We've been known for our character and belief as a team, and that's something we've consistently shown since I joined the club."
Hirst also praised his teammate Julio for his impressive goal that brought the team back into the game, saying, “Julio has shown us his quality before, and we've been waiting for one of those moments. It was only a matter of time before he scored a goal like that."
When asked about his own performance, Hirst expressed his satisfaction with his role in the game. He said, “It's nice to score a meaningful goal, especially one that brought us back into the game. I'm a striker, and scoring goals is what I'm judged on, so to score five goals this season is something I'm pleased with."
Hirst also reflected on his improvement in scoring headers, saying, “As a tall striker, I'd like to think I'd score more headers. But this season, I've found that it's a strength of mine, and when I get a good delivery like Omari's, it makes it easier for me to score."
